Portraits and video production for art gallery
"We need portrait photography and video production to help promote Ian Berry's forthcoming exhibition" said Catto Gallery. "And while you're at it, could you do the catalogue photography too!". No problem we said.
It's always a pleasure and great fun to work with creative clients like Catto Gallery and artists like Ian Berry.
Ian Berry works exclusively with denim. His studio floor and walls are covered by hundreds of pairs of jeans. He scours through them for the right tones and textures, before cutting them up and turning them into contemporary art.
Ian's works are technically astounding, he manages to create light filtering onto patterned tiled floors and reflections in metal objects. It's quite mind boggling how he does it. These pieces need to be seen to be believed!
As part of the exhibition, Ian had also created 'My Beautiful Launderette' a denim launderette installation complete with washing machines, tumble dryers, baskets of washing and even denim plants!
Ian's studio is such a unique place, it was hard not to take a few extra shots of incidental details as well as Ian at work and in his denim launderette. Naturally all this provided Catto Gallery with plenty of variety to choose from.
The imagery was used to great effect for press and PR, both in print and online and helped generate substantial interest in the exhibition.
On the video production side, we produced two short promos, one for the exhibition and one for the installation. There was also a shorter, smaller and squarer version for Instagram.
A spin off (excuse the pun) of the video production was that we produced audio loops for the installation. The loops included rumbling tumble dryers, washing machine cycles and general beeps, clatters and background chit chat.
